Set within a refined 1930s residential building in the historic centre of Turin, the 130-square-metre apartment engages in a quiet yet deliberate dialogue with its architectural context. Original elements—such as the steel handrail and the decorated arched elevator doors on each floor—serve as points of reference, reinterpreted within the interior to establish continuity between past and present.

The once-generous entrance has been recalibrated to accommodate concealed storage, enhancing functionality while preserving spatial clarity. Arched openings echo the historic building’s language, punctuating the interior with a subtle rhythm. Blue dominates this area, enveloping walls, ceilings, and curtains in a cohesive chromatic field.

The domestic environment is conceived as a continuous spatial field, defined by full-height sliding panels that allow spaces to expand, contract, or merge while enhancing visual continuity and natural light. Between the living and dining areas, sliding partitions act as a chromatic device: colour spans from the ceiling to the walls, forming a triangular geometry that positions colour as an active architectural element rather than mere decoration.

A translucent polycarbonate door, seamlessly integrated with the wall, mediates the relationship between the kitchen and the dining area. While preserving functional separation, it functions as a luminous threshold, softly filtering light and gently illuminating both spaces.

The ensuite bathroom, adjacent to the walk-in closet, is defined by a glass block wall, which channels natural light into an interior that would otherwise be devoid of it, enhancing the sense of openness and spatial continuity.

In the living area, red punctuates the space, marking functional boundaries—defining circulation, storage, and the shelving composition. New flooring with small-format tiles in the kitchen area and bathrooms reinterprets the original pattern that characterizes the apartment's entrance. In this way, the apartment's connection with its historical background is further reinforced.
